– The Imo state government has ordered the allocation of land to Lord’s Chosen Church for the construction of a university. The order was given by the state governor Rochas Okorcha
– Okorocha told the founder of the Lord’s Chosen Church, Lazarus Muoka, during a visit that Imo state needs 20 universities
The governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha also said the state needs 20 universities to cater for the rise in population of qualified applicant of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
While meeting with the founder of the Lord’s Chosen Church, Pastor Lazarus Muoka during his courtesy call at the Imo state Government House, Okorocha said many JAMB applicants were denied admission into tertiary institutions because of certain unfavourbale polices like catchment areas and limited admission spaces.
Muoka was at the Imo state Government House to inform the governor of his church’s plan to establish a university in Imo.
Following his information, Okorocha also directed that land should be allocated to the church immediately for that purpose.
The governor also gave the church N10 million to enable them clear the site of the intended University.
Okorocha said that for the seventh time, Imo state has continued to lead in JAMB applications with wide margin.
He said that since 2012, the state has been recording between 131,000 and 92,000 applications in JAMB but regretted that the number of applicants given admission was never as high as that.
Stating that education is the biggest industry in Imo, Okorocha assured Muoka that the state would support the church to ensure that the university is started and finished for kick-off of academic activities.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the university will be held on Tuesday 10th April, 2018.
The Lazarus Muoka led Lord’s Chosen came out of Watchman Charismatic Renewal Ministries in 2004.
