A manhunt has been launched by detectives after a 16-year-old boy was raped by an older man in Wigwam, a popular camping and caravan park in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The rape victim disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday at Mortonhall Caravan and Camping Park, a four-star park just four miles from the city centre and also popular with families visiting Edinburgh.
Following the formal statement and a medical examination the 16-year-old boy underwent, the park was sealed-off with Scotland Police’s scene of crime tape while the wooden glamping pod was examined by forensic experts.
‘Police in Edinburgh are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault of a teenage male in the Mortonhall Caravan Park area on July 23.
‘Enquiries are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry in connection with this,’ a Police Scotland spokesman said.
A spokesperson for Mortonhall Caravan and Camping Park also said:
“This matter is currently under investigation by the police so any comment from us would be inappropriate. However, we will be giving our full co-operation to the authorities in their inquiries.”
